Martin Truex Jr was born on June 20, 1980 in Mayetta, New Jersey. He is single and resides in Mooresville, North Carolina. Martin started racing go-karts at eleven years old. He won the Junior Class Championship and the New Jersey Championship at Egypt Speedway by the time he was fourteen.
At eighteen years old, he won a modified feature race on his eighth start. He also won the Wall Stadium Stadium Turkey Derby.
After moving to the NASCAR Busch North Series, he broke the track record at the New Hampshire International Speedway by starting on the pole, leading every lap for the whole race and winning.
In 2001, Martin Truex Jr started driving for the Busch Series at Dover International Speedway. In 2003 , He drove for his fathers team and then for Chance 2 Motorsports for DEI. He raced full time for DEI in 2004 and won his first career victory at Bristol. He became the second driver to ever win the Busch Championship in his rookie year. He went on to win three more races including Talladega. He won the championship for the Busch Series in both 2004 and 2005.
Martin Truex Jr Started driving in NASCAR's Nextel Cup Series in 2006 for DEI, finishing the season nineteenth in points behind his fellow rookies. Truex won his first race in the Nextel Cup this year (2007) in June after leading 217 out of 400 laps at Dover International Speedway. After several more solid races, he secured his spot in this years chase. He currently has one win, six top fives and eleven top tens. He will be senior driver for DEI in 2008 after Dale Earnhardt Jr leaves to drive for Hendrick Motorsports.
